Surely many of you have heard of " Ayurveda " and have wondered what exactly it consists of.

It is a very complex traditional medicine, so in this post we will tell you a little more about what it consists of and what its benefits are.

Ayurveda is a system of traditional medicine originating in India and is considered one of the oldest known medical systems, dating back more than 5,000 years.

In Sanskrit terms, Ayurveda means science or knowledge of life, a term inherited from the ancient Vedic rishis, who were men and women who achieved self-knowledge several thousand years ago through meditation and other practices aimed at balancing mind and body. spirit, and above all, to integrate individual nature with Nature itself in the different planes of existence.

Ayurveda approaches health from a holistic, integral, personalized, spiritual and philosophical point of view. In other words, it works with both the body and the mind, unlike Western medicine.

Ayurveda identifies 5 traits depending on the five essential elements, everything in the universe is composed of different amounts of these five elements:

Space: expansive, light, dry
Air: cold, harsh, light, dry, mobile
Fire: hot, sharp, light, oily, penetrating
Water: heavy, adaptable, flowing, wet, heavy
Earth: heavy, oily, wet, cold, dense

Ayurveda classifies people into three categories, or doshas depending on the amount of each element they are composed of: Vata, Pita and Khapa. Ayurvedic practitioners use a dispensary of foods, attitudes, treatments, herbs, massages, environmental conditions, and other habits to balance the forces in our bodies.
